Kiran Rao reveals Laal Singh Chaddha’s failure deeply affected Aamir Khan: ‘It was his dream project.
Bollywood’s perfectionist Aamir Khan‘s ex-wife, Kiran Rao, who co-produced Laal Singh Chaddha, spoke her heart out about its failure at the box office.
Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan were the lead actors in the film. However, it did not live up to the audience’s expectations in 2022, which left Aamir Khan feeling disappointed.
During her interview with Zoom, Kiran discussed the impact of Laal Singh Chaddha’s failure on Aamir. According to the filmmaker,” it is truly disheartening when all the effort put into a project doesn’t yield the desired results.
Kiran also mentioned that Aamir was deeply affected by the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. Furthermore, she revealed that the entire team was affected by the lackluster reception of the film.
Kiran emphasized that this movie was Aamir’s dream project, and he had been pursuing the rights to the script for over a decade. She also acknowledged that the film failed to resonate with audiences, and it is important to accept this reality now.
In her discussion, she addressed the prevalence of formulaic films, emphasizing that people tend to adhere to these established formulas. The director of “Laapataa Ladies” also highlighted the significance of utilizing setbacks as opportunities for growth and enhancing their artistic skills.

During an interview with News 18, Kiran shed light on the release of “Laapataa Ladies” under her production company, Kindling Pictures. She acknowledged that she cannot expect Aamir to be involved in every project she undertakes.
Furthermore, she emphasized that Aamir’s approach to work is not influenced by his familial relationships, such as those of his son, daughter, wife, or brother. Instead, the viability of an idea takes precedence. Although Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan have separated, they continue to co-parent their son, Azad Rao Khan. While Aamir Khan is currently on a sabbatical, he plans to announce his return to the film industry soon.
